Detroit Icon Cited In Story Of Urban Renewal

Detroit is on the rise. The proud spirit of the Motor City is simply too strong to keep down. Following years of well-publicized decline in its downtown area, and last year’s bankruptcy filing, Detroit has launched an aggressive redevelopment plan. One area of revitalization is the city’s Historic Corktown District, home to the Mercury Bar.

Reporting on the city’s renewal, The Guardian profiles the Mercury Bar, a neighborhood icon that has survived the downturn and is an integral part of the resurgence. As Corktown attracts the city’s hipsters, new residents are sitting alongside long-time Motowners enjoying a beer and one of Mercury Bar’s award-winning burgers. “Detroit is the best city in the world. The Merc is proud to be a part of it,” said Kimberlia Kirk, Operations Manager at the Mercury Bar.

Solve client Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, a leading bank in the UAE, is unveiling a new integrated campaign this week helping consumers celebrate the power of visualization. Featuring a range of real customers, all with eyes closed, the innovative campaign uses the line, “if you can visualize it, we can help you get there.”

Directed by Michael Marantz of LA-based production company Persuade, the striking, cinematic feel captures powerful on-camera reactions and elicits an emotional response from viewers. The largest effort ever undertaken by ADCB, the multi-channel campaign includes broadcast, cinema, print and digital. Travelers to the UAE will also see the advertising onboard select international flights into the country.

The Optum Pro Cycling men’s team begins its 2015 racing calendar today in Portugal with the hotly contested Volta ao Algarve em Bicicleta. The invite is truly rare for a US-based continental team, and proof positive of growing respect for the Optum Pro Cycling team on the world stage.

“We feel honored to have received an invitation to the Volta ao Algarve this year,” said Performance Director Jonas Carney. “This is a huge race for our team and a great opportunity for our riders to go up against the best in the world.” The 2014 podium was occupied by the current world road race champion Michal Kwiatkowski (1st), Tour de France champion Alberto Contador (2nd), and last year’s road race world champ Rui Costa (3rd).
